Eastside Medical Urgent Care is now offering drug screening for employers who wish their employees to get a drug screen. This service will be offered to all employers starting the 2nd of June, 2010. Pricing is available on request.

Nominations Sought for PBA Awards Dinner by June 15th

The Penfield Business Association will honor the community’s top businesses and individuals at the first annual PBA Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Shadow Lake Country Club.  Nominations for Penfield’s Business of the Year and the Daniel Penfield Award, which recognizes a prominent business leader, are currently being accepted through June 15, 2010.

The Business of the Year Award will recognize a business that is either headquartered in Penfield or maintains a visible Penfield location.  Nominees should have active community involvement and support, a positive economic impact on Penfield and overall business vitality.  For the individual award, the Daniel Penfield Award, nominees should be an active community member, show a history of supporting the local economy and have a strong reputation as a leader and role model.  For both awards, five finalists will be selected, with the winner announced at the October 7th awards dinner.  Nomination forms are available on the PBA website or by contacting the PBA at secretary@penfieldbusiness.org.

All nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Selection Committee which includes Channing Philbrick, Jim Costello, Peter Weishaar, Sam Delucia, Debbie Drawe and Diane Thresh.  The Awards Planning Committee is Chris Herlong, Paul Dwyer, Cheryl Gregory, Amy Pellow, Diane Thresh and Leslie Zornow.

Penfield Sign Ordinance Informational Meeting Set for Today

The Town of Penfield's Sign Ordinance became effective on March 9, 1981 and is now 29 years old. The Town Board of the Town of Penfield is interested in seeking input from the public regarding the Town¹s current Sign Ordinance to determine its relevance relating to changing community needs.

Members of the Penfield Business Association are encouraged to attend an informational discussion to offer input on this issue. Temporary, permanent and A-Frame signs will be discussed.

Penfield Bicentennial Golf Tournament

The Kiwanis Club of Penfield-Perinton Foundation and The Town of Penfield are holding a Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, June 21 at Shadow Lake Golf Club.

Many sponsorship opportunities are available ranging from $100 Hole Sponsors to $3000 Tournament Sponsors. The event is also looking for prize donations and golfers to participate. This is an opportunity to support several local charities as well as Penfield's Bicentennial.

The School of the Holy Childhood Annual Golf Tournament

The School of the Holy Childhood is hosting their annual fundraising golf tournament on June 21, 2010 at Midvale Country Club. This is the 20th anniversary for this tournament and in those years they have managed to raise $475,000!

Energy Incentives for Small Businesses in Penfield

Businesses with demand of less than 100 kw can qualify for a free energy assessment and funding towards lighting upgrades. Visit www.RenewPenfield.org to get more information and to see how your business can benefit. Other utility incentives and rebates are also available for residents and larger businesses in Penfield.

The Web site provides connections to rebates and incentives, educational resources, tips to manage energy consumption, and helpful interactive tools.

Both RG&E and NYSEG are offering energy efficiency programs for small business customers with demand of less than 100 kilowatts. Eligible businesses will receive free energy efficient lighting assessments and 70% of the cost of recommended lighting upgrades will be covered by RG&E. The purpose of the program is to encourage small business customers to replace existing fluorescent fixtures with higher efficiency lamps and ballasts; change incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent lights (CFLs); and upgrade exit signs to light emitting diode (LED) technolog.
